After a scuba diving trip in the Solomon Islands in the 1970’s, I returned to Australia with a passion for diving, sailing and adventure and just after my 18th birthday, bought a 29’ yacht to live aboard and go cruising.
While living on the boat I read the Essene Gospel of Peace, a book about health and healing, written over 2,000 years ago. It wasn’t long before leaving Australia for Costa Rica to meet the man who translated the text of the book, Edmond Bordeaux Szekely. He wrote many books on health, ancient civilizations and the Essenes. I had read every one of his books, joined his 'International Biogenic Society' and was excited to meet him face to face. After arriving at his home in the Orosi Valley near San Jose, I soon discovered from his wife Norma, that Edmond had recently passed away. Although missing the opportunity to meet him, he inspired a lifelong study of the Essenes, their origin and health & healing modalities.
In 1980 I met Victoras Kulvinskas who’s book, ‘Survival into the 21st Century-A Planetary Healers Manual’ inspired me greatly. Victoras and Ann Wigmore had founded the Hippocrates Health Institute in Boston, USA. With backpack and guitar in hand, I travelled there to study Ann's ‘learn-by-doing, living foods lifestyle program’ and ended up staying on as staff. It was a joy to live and work with Ann, assisting guests with their health goals and sharing the living foods lifestyle with them.
In the late 80’s my girlfriend Wendy and I opened the Seaside Health Retreat on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The retreat provided a cozy, beachside live in, learn-by-doing, health and fitness program based on:
- Essene teachings and philosophy
- Healing with Earth, Air, Water and Sun
- Hippocrates Living Food Lifestyle Program
- Detoxification, Water Fasting + Juice Feasting
In the 90’s, Wendy and I married in New Zealand and after an 18 month honeymoon backpacking and travelling, we ended up in a VW Kombi Van arriving in Burnett, Texas to work with Natural Hygiene educator and author TC Fry. I came to know TC from completing his ‘Life Science Health Educator Program’ at the Seaside Health Retreat. Wendy and I assisted TC as interns and helped the various guests complete their water fasting program or their transition to a raw/living food diet.
With new adventures on our minds, Wendy, new son Benjamin and I travelled to Fiji to develop the ‘Coral Village Beach Resort’, abandoned by USA investors after a military coup in 1987. A new vision for the resort was for a health retreat, permaculture training centre and eco/adventure getaway. With a name change to Gaia Fiji and getting the resort operational with a restaurant, dive business, trekking, backpackers camping and with too many challenges along the way, we decided to leave Fiji for New Zealand. The resort was later sold and became the Wellesley Resort.
In December 1994, Wendy died in a car accident in New Zealand. With 3 year old Benjamin and 9 month old Jasmine, and single parenthood, I started developing internet based health businesses to be able to work from home.

We soon moved from NZ to the Sunshine Coast, Australia, then in 2001, travelled to a small mountain town in Nelson, BC, Canada to live while working on a new book idea.
In 2012 we relocated back to Australia. Soon Ben and Jasmine were living independently and I moved to Phuket, Thailand in 2017 to focus on finishing and publishing a book on health and healing.
You can find me every morning before sunrise on Surin Beach, Phuket. Come say hi !!
